Era un s\u00e1bado cuando vi la portada de <em>Wish You Were Here<\/em> de Pink Floyd, un LP que se conservaba casi nuevo y que llam\u00f3 poderosamente mi atenci\u00f3n la cruda imagen de un hombre en llamas saludando a otro desbordaba misterio y belleza; dos hombres d\u00e1ndose la mano, me dej\u00f3 sin palabras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le\u00ed los cr\u00e9ditos y descubr\u00ed que el dise\u00f1o era obra de Hipgnosis, un estudio fundado por Thorgerson y su socio Aubrey \"Po\" Powell. Para m\u00ed, que en ese momento no sab\u00eda lo que era el arte, aquella imagen lo era todo. Nac\u00ed en diciembre de 1975, solo unos meses despu\u00e9s de que se lanzara el disco en septiembre. Sin embargo, el sonido de Pink Floyd resonaba como si fuera contempor\u00e1neo, como si hubiera llegado a m\u00ed desde el pasado, empuj\u00e1ndome a buscar cada vez m\u00e1s en la discograf\u00eda de la banda. Aunque el padre de mi amigo no ten\u00eda todos los discos, contaba con algunos de los m\u00e1s importantes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>The Piper at the Gates of Dawn<\/em> (1967)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Obscured by Clouds<\/em> (1972)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Wish You Were Here<\/em> (1975)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Animals<\/em> (1977)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>The Wall<\/em> (1979)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Cada vez que visitaba a mi amigo, me sumerg\u00eda en esas portadas, cada una una obra maestra en s\u00ed misma, un universo que anhelaba explorar. No s\u00e9 si fue por el amor a esa portada, pero hasta el d\u00eda de hoy <em>Wish You Were Here<\/em> es uno de mis discos favoritos de la banda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las historias sobre la creaci\u00f3n de la tapa de <em>Wish You Were Here<\/em> son tan fascinantes como la imagen misma. La idea detr\u00e1s de la portada refleja c\u00f3mo las personas ocultan sus verdaderos sentimientos, temiendo \"quemarse\". Para plasmar esta idea, Thorgerson y Powell decidieron fotografiar a dos hombres de negocios estrech\u00e1ndose la mano, con uno en llamas. Para lograrlo, utilizaron a dos especialistas en efectos especiales. Uno de ellos, vestido con un traje ign\u00edfugo, se encontraba en medio del fuego, protegido solo por una capucha y una peluca. Recuerdo haber le\u00eddo que, en una de las tomas, el viento cambi\u00f3 de direcci\u00f3n y las llamas casi alcanzaron su rostro. Aquella imagen captur\u00f3 la esencia de un momento, un reflejo de la lucha en la industria musical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thorgerson, nacido en 1944, no solo dise\u00f1aba portadas; constru\u00eda narrativas visuales. Cada imagen contaba una historia, desafiando la l\u00f3gica y llev\u00e1ndonos a un mundo de sue\u00f1os. La famosa pir\u00e1mide prism\u00e1tica de <em>The Dark Side of the Moon<\/em> es otro ejemplo de su maestr\u00eda, un s\u00edmbolo de luz y oscuridad que invita a profundas reflexiones sobre la existencia humana. Sin embargo, para m\u00ed, <em>Wish You Were Here<\/em> es la tapa que m\u00e1s me gusta de toda su discograf\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La influencia de Thorgerson ha ido m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la m\u00fasica, inspirando a una generaci\u00f3n de artistas y dise\u00f1adores gr\u00e1ficos. Su ruptura con las convenciones del dise\u00f1o de portadas ha llevado a una mayor experimentaci\u00f3n, convirtiendo la imagen en una extensi\u00f3n del mensaje musical.
